Bhim Mitra for Mood & Sleep - Balancing Humours
USE & ACTION:
Tibetan herbal medicine excels at bringing the body's humour and energies into alignment and harmony, helping with common complaints such as mood disturbance, anxiety, depression, and sleep issues. According to Tibetan medical theory, depression and insomnia stem from the same source: a disruption in the rLhung humoural energy system of the body. Due to the incredibly stressful, complex life we all are experiencing worldwide, the rLung humor gets stirred up and loses its connection to its resting place in the abdomen. When this happens, it begins to flow upward toward the head, causing various disorders, including anxiety, exhaustion, mood disturbance and depression, insomnia, and racing thoughts.
When brought back into alignment through herbal formulas such as Agar 35, Happiness of Mind, and Bhim Mitra, the result is an empowered, focused, relaxed state of mind. Chronic problems like insomnia and anxiety are reduced and often disappear entirely, and one feels more in control and, thus, can deal with life's turbulence. The Tibetan doctor Yeshe Donden once told me that in hundreds of patient visits, he had never met a Westerner whose subtle energy was not disturbed and could not benefit from these formulas.
Bhim Mitra is a balanced formula, the basis of which is Terminalia chebulam, Boswellia serrata, Nutemeg, and Aquilaria malaccensis. Nutmeg and Boswellia serrata are warming; Terminalia Chebula and Aquilaria malaccensis are cooling, and all are used in controlling the wind. In particular, the function of nutmeg is to regulate wind in the central channel and heart chakra. In addition to these four herbs, Bhim Mitra has several other supporting herbs which control wind and keep the heart chakra.
Bhim Mitra has been described as the meditator's formula of choice. It is an excellent herbal support for those embarking on meditation retreats, intense study, or basic stress where Vata or "rlung" disturbances are a constant issue. In addition to this, since Bhim. Mitra assists in regulating the praṇāvāyu in the heart chakra; it is an excellent aid for supporting calm and restful sleep. For an anupāna (sman rta, foods, and drinks to enhance the effect of the medicine), Bhim Mitra may be combined with warmed milk sweetened with sucanet or a small portion of high-quality aged alcohol such as 10-year-old tawny port or brandy. When combined with a Vata-reducing diet, regular massage, and light exercises such as yoga or walking, Bhim Mitra supports calmness and a positive mood. Non-habit-forming, Agar 35 is a safe and effective means of keeping your body to deal with life's aggravations and turmoil.
